Imagine being an English teacher or professor and misusing its vs it's. It's the sort of thing your peers would bring up several years later, "you remember when you misused it's?" I don't know if English professors are petty like that, but I think it would be a lot of pressure to speak correctly (which I don't, but I don't care about it).
